May 1 Letter - Neil Meltzer to LifeBridge Health employees about events in Baltimore

Dear LifeBridge Health employees,

As we move toward the end an emotional week for our community, I want to thank you, our LifeBridge Health employees, for your dedication and caring. The events unfolding in Baltimore have affected all of us. Although it may have been difficult to go on with “business as usual,” you have been here providing care and support to our patients, their families and visitors, and I know this commitment will continue.

We are a large organization, but we are one LifeBridge Health family. Some of our employees have been directly impacted by these events, and you have been there to support your colleagues and friends. As someone who has lived and worked in the Baltimore area for nearly 30 years, I have also been saddened to see this happen in our city, but at the same time, I have been heartened to see so many in our community come together.

We are continuing to monitor the ever-changing situation in consultation with local and state agencies. You will continue to see increased security at our facilities, doors may be locked earlier than usual and public transportation may face further disruptions. The safety and security of our employees, patients and visitors is our top priority, and we appreciate your patience, understanding and professionalism as we face these changing circumstances together.

Some of you have asked what we can do to help rebuild our neighborhoods. Along with our population health and community development initiatives, LifeBridge Health also has a Community Services Corps (CSC), a volunteer organization that was started and is led by LifeBridge Health employees with a passion for giving back.

CSC members participate in activities sponsored by local organizations working to improve our communities. Service and giving back are instilled in the fabric of LifeBridge Health, and we are aware that healthy and happy communities improve the overall health and wellness of the people we serve.

The CSC is currently developing its calendar for the upcoming months, and we will share more information with you as it becomes available.

If you have ideas to share or would like to get more involved, you can email the CSC at Community_Service@lifebridgehealth.org

This is our city and our home, and we remain committed to improving the lives of people who live here. Caring and healing are at the heart of LifeBridge Health, important qualities as we come together to support our community. I thank you for your dedication and all that you do each and every day.

Neil Meltzer
